Foundation Are Coaching The Coaches
Over 90 local grassroots coaches, representing 40 local clubs, assembled last Friday for the latest Newcastle United Foundation 'Coach the Coach Clinic' in Gosforth. The monthly programme, run in partnership between the Foundation, Northumberland Football Association and Complete Football, welcomed FA Elite Coaching Manager Dick Bate to the North East to present a three hour workshop to aspiring youth coaches and volunteers. The practical sessions, accredited by the FA Licensed Coaches Club, focussed on developing defenders in the model of our own Taylor, Coloccini and others. As always, Dick's high class teaching was packed with enthusiasm, humour and attention to detail, leaving a positive mark on all of those who attended. Dick said; "The number that attended was great tribute to the organisation and the sustained interest of the coaches was excellent - it was a pleasure to work for, and with, those attending".
Bill Appleby, from Wallsend Boys Club, said "I really enjoyed the session. What an inspirational coach Dick Bate is! I've seen some sessions delivered over the years but none that have been delivered with such passion and enthusiasm. I can't wait for the next event".
Regular attendee Michael Plane, Football Development Officer at Tynemouth United FC concurred; "The feedback I have had from our coaches who attended the Coach the Coach on Friday night has been very positive. All who attended said Dick Bate was amazing and they all left feeling inspired & energized".
Newcastle United Foundation Football Development Manager Neil Winskill "It is a real coup bringing a coach of Dick Bate's calibre to Newcastle. He is one of the best coach educators in world football and we are thrilled that so many local coaches have grasped the opportunity to come and see a master trainer at work. Tonight illustrated the success of our Coach the Coach Clinic programme and we are now also delivering bespoke clinics to individual clubs who are keen to learn more about our training methodology".
Clubs including Cramlington United Football Club, Blyth Town Football Club, Grainger Park Football Club and Ashington Community Football Club have acquired the services of our Foundation Coach Education team to deliver bespoke sessions at their club, for their coaching workforce. These sessions have been really well received. Sandra Orr, Club Chairperson at Blyth Town Football Club said "I really think this is exceptional value for money.A football club can only be as good as its personnel and if you offer quality coaching you will get the best out of your players and even attract new ones. Newcastle United Foundation are giving our coaches the benefit of their vast experience and knowledge in a practical, hands-on way which is easy to absorb. Our coaches choose what they want the sessions to involve and the Foundation personnel accommodate - and they come to our home ground to deliver the clinics! Our guys are loving it. It is a fantastic service at an affordable cost".
