Newcastle United right-back Danny Simpson took time out of his preparations for Manchester United to help a group of students on Thursday afternoon.
Fifteenn pupils from Dunston Riverside Primary School were at the Sports Direct Arena to take part in a United in Education workshop called Comic Life, and Simpson met the youngsters on a stadium tour to tell them all about how he prepares for matchdays, before taking them pitchside and then into the media suite for a question and answer session.
The Comic Life workshop saw students go on a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about their Magpies heroes and the home of Newcastle United, taking photos along the way. They then headed off the Learning Centre to create a computerised comic strip of their visit, which they took away as a memento of a memorable day.
"It was great to meet the kids and see how enthusiastic they were about being at the stadium," said Simpson.
"I tried to give thm an insight into what it is like to be a professional footballer, especially on match days, and hopefully that will have helped them with their work. I'm sure the comic strips they created were great."
