Charged with delivering the Magpies' commitment to its local community, Newcastle United Foundation reached over 60,000 people in its first year.

Through its health, education and sporting programmes, the Foundation is using the local passion among supporters to encourage learning and promote healthy lifestyles that will make a real difference to the lives of local children and families.

In just one year the Foundation has:

- Worked with 10,000 individuals, resulting in 62,000 attendances across all its education, health, social inclusion and sports participation projects

- Expanded its flagship health project Match Fit to 10 more primary schools in Newcastle to reach 5000 children over the next three years

- Launched Newcastle United Enterprise Academy to teach 750 secondary school pupils about business and enterprise

- Worked closely with the Newcastle United Academy, coaching 3000 youngsters through a "Search for a Star" initiative funded by Sir John Hall

- Developed a successful partnership with Newcastle City Council to deliver youth football across the city, seeing a 48% increase in participation within six months

- Opened a brand new, state of the art Learning Centre at the stadium
