Lowestoft-born, Richard Money started his playing career with Scunthorpe United before going on to enjoy spells with Liverpool and Fulham among others.

He finally hung up his boots back at Scunthorpe in 1990 having also represented England B during a 17-year career.

Money went on to manage Scunthorpe in the early 1990s and was later Head of Youth at Aston Villa and Coventry City.

He then moved abroad where he took control of Swedish sides AIK and Vasteras SK between 2003 and 2005 before taking the reigns at Australian club Newcastle United Jets in the inaugural season of the A-League in 2005/06.

The former defender then returned to England to take charge at Walsall and led them to the League Two title in 2006/07 before resigning from his position in April, 2008.

Money was appointed Newcastle United Academy Director on June 24, 2008 having been identified as the perfect candidate to develop the Magpies' youth policy.

At the time of his appointment he said: "This a fantastic opportunity for me, a really big challenge.

"I've got a lot of experience of working with young players so this is a job I am well qualified to do."
