Tim joined United from Dutch side Den Haag on a three year contract in July 2005.
The Dutch youth international was out of contract at his hometown club, following his failure to sign on pro terms after the expiry of his apprentice deal and moved to Tyneside.
Krul is the current goalkeeper for the Dutch U20 side and was part of the squad at the European Under 21 Championships in June 2007.
Earlier in his career Tim represented Holland in the World U17 Championships in Peru in September 2005, helping his side finish fourth in the tournament.
In May 2006 Tim kept four clean sheets for the Dutch U20s as they finished runners-up to France in the annual Toulon tournament, losing on penalties in the Final.
During 2005/06, Tim was outstanding as United's Juniors reached the semi finals of the FA Youth Cup.
Was on the first team bench for the UEFA Cup tie with Ventspils on 24 August 2006 and then made his debut against Palmero in Sicily on 2 November 2006, turning in a man-of-the-match performance.
Spent most of 2007/08 on loan at Falkirk, making 26 appearances.
Joined Carlisle for a month in November 2008, making his English domestic league debut against Cheltenham on 22 November.Made his league debut for the Magpies as half-time replacement for the injured Steve Harper during 1-1 draw at West Brom on the opening day of the 2009/10 season. Krul was voted man of the match after a string of top-drawer saves to win a point for the Geordies.
