Ryan Taylor signed for United on 2 February 2009 from Wigan as part of the deal that saw Charles N'Zogbia move in the opposite direction.
Able to fill both the full-back berths, Ryan is a hard-tackling defender, comfortable on the ball and has bundles of energy, witness his numerous surges upfield to support the attack.
Possesses a deadly free-kick and also a long throw which makes him a very dangerous opponent - as his new team have already found to their cost - four of his six Premier League strikes having come against the Magpies.
Suffered a bad 2006, broke his metatarsal against Leeds in the FA Cup and on his comeback, broke his leg against Newcastle Reserves.
His versatility and set-piece artistry should serve United well.
