Still a schoolboy at St Cuthberts High School in Newcastle when he made his reserve team debut on 24 January 2007 at Wigan after impressing for the Academy Under 18 side in the first half of the 2006/07 season, ending the campaign with 12 goals in 20 matches.
Scored his first reserve goal, aged 15 and 315 days at Blackburn on 12 March 2007.
A huge admirer of Michael Owen and Thierry Henry, the lively pacy front man has a good eye for goal. Made his England U17 debut on 30 July 2007, netting both goals in the 2- 0 Nordic Championships win over Iceland in Denmark.
Was on the bench for United's opening day draw at Old Trafford on 17 August 2008.
