Gibson Gets England Call

Magpies' teenager Lewis Gibson has been called up for the England under-17 squad for the Croatia Cup tournament

Newcastle defender Lewis Gibson has been named in the England under-17 squad for the upcoming Croatia Cup.

The Young Lions will face opposition from the host nation, Greece and Germany in the tournament, scheduled for late September and early October.

And head coach Steve Cooper has named a 21-man squad for the trip, which will take in two games in Pula and one in Novigrad on the northern tip of Croatia's Adriatic coast.

Gibson made his England bow in a 3-1 friendly win against Belgium last month. His older brother, Liam, is also on the Magpies' books.

The full England under-17 squad for the Croatia Cup is:
