Loan Watch: Woolston's A Winner On Darlo Debut

Written by Newcastle Utd

Teenage goalkeeper Paul Woolston's spell at Darlington got off to a good start on Wednesday night

Paul Woolston made a winning start to his work experience loan spell with Darlington on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper went straight into the Quakers' starting XI for their Vanarama National League North game at Bradford Park Avenue.

He made a good save from Emile Sinclair's header in the first half but was beaten by the same player in the second period as Darlington fell behind.

However, late goals from Liam Hardy and Terry Galbraith gave Martin Gray's men all three points to take them up to fourth in the table.

On Tuesday, while Newcastle were winning 6-0 at Queens Park Rangers, Adam Armstrong started for Barnsley against Wolves at Molineux.

And while he couldn't add to the goal he scored on his debut against Preston last weekend, the teenager helped the Tykes to a 4-0 victory. He played for the opening 70 minutes.

Meanwhile, Liam Smith has returned from his loan spell with Crewe due to injury.
