Newcastle United forward Daryl Murphy came off the bench to head home the Republic of Ireland's equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Serbia on Monday night.
Murphy, 33, watched on from the sidelines along with fellow Magpie Ciaran Clark as Jeff Hendrick put Martin O'Neill's men ahead in their 2018 World Cup qualifier.
But Filip Kostic and Dusan Tadic put Serbia - for whom Aleksandar Mitrovic played the first hour in Belgrade - in front, before Murphy was introduced in place of Hendrick in the 76th minute.
Four minutes later, the ex-Ipswich frontman nodded in his first international goal on his 24th appearance.
Clark, meanwhile, came off the bench in the final minute to replace Shane Long.
Left back Paul Dummett was an unused substitute as Wales thrashed Moldova 4-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium, thanks to a Gareth Bale brace and strikes from Sam Vokes and Joe Allen.
And goalkeeper Matz Sels' Belgium are in qualifying action on Tuesday night, when they face Cyprus in Nicosia.
