Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark was in international action on Wednesday night as the Republic of Ireland beat Oman 4-0 in Dubin.

The Magpies' summer recruit started for Martin O'Neill's side at the Aviva Stadium, as goals from Robbie Brady, Robbie Keane - in his 146th and final outing for his country - and a brace from Jon Walters sealed a comfortable friendly win.

Clark, 26, played the full 90 minutes, earning his 20th cap, and could now win his 21st when Ireland travel to Serbia for a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Morocco full back Achraf Lazaar - who joined United on a five-year deal from Palermo on Sunday - made a late substitute appearance in place of Watford's Nordin Amrabat as the Atlas Lions were held to a 0-0 draw by Albania at the Loro Borici Stadium in Shkoder.

The 24-year-old now has 15 caps for Morocco, and could again feature for his country when they take on Sao Tome E Principe in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat.
