Newcastle United defender Kyle Cameron has joined League Two side Newport County on loan.

Cameron, 19, will stay at Rodney Parade until Tuesday, 3rd January 2017, after linking up with the Exiles following their Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Plymouth Arygle on Tuesday night.

The centre half, who can also play at left back, spent similar spells on loan at Workington Reds and York City last term.

After making four appearances and scoring one goal for Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit Workington, Cameron linked up with the Minstermen in January 2016, going on to play 18 times in League Two.

Cameron - who has been capped by Scotland at under-19 level - scored his first Football League goal during his time at York, netting against Hartlepool United in April.

And he will now head to South Wales to link up with County, who are currently 18th in the League Two table.
