Stephen Martin will take charge of Newcastle's EFL Cup second round tie against Cheltenham

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Stephen Martin will referee Newcastle United's EFL Cup second round tie against Cheltenham Town on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

It will be the Staffordshire-based official's first match involving the Magpies and his fifth game of the season across the Sky Bet Championship, League One and the EFL Cup.

He has shown 11 yellow cards but no reds, and he has yet to award a penalty this term.

His assistants at St. James' Park on Tuesday will be Jonathan Hunt and Matthew McGrath. Anthony Backhouse is the fourth official.
