Oliver Langford will take charge of Newcastle United's first home Sky Bet Championship fixture of the 2016/17 campaign, against Huddersfield Town on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It is the second time the West Midlands-based whistler has overseen a Magpies' match in his career, having been the man in the middle of a League Cup second round tie at Gillingham in August 2014.
On that evening at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium, Langford kept his notebook clean as United ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a first-half own goal from John Egan.
In total during the 2016/17 campaign, he has refereed two fixtures across the Championship and EFL Cup, handing out four yellow cards, no reds and awarding three penalties
Langford has spent eight seasons as an EFL referee, officiating in the Dallas Cup and Algarve Cup as part of the PGMO development programme.
He has taken charge of close to 200 EFL matches, including last term's League Two play-off semi-final first leg between Portsmouth and Plymouth Argyle.
On Saturday at St. James' Park, Langford will be assisted by James Wilson and Mark Dwyer, with Graham Salisbury the game's fourth official.
