United Confirm Open Day Schedule

Written by Newcastle Utd

Thousands of fan are expected to converge on St. James' Park on Monday for the Club's Open Day

Thousands of Newcastle United supporters are expected to converge on St. James' Park on Monday morning for the Club's free annual Open Day.

The event, which is free of charge for fans of all ages, will run from 9am until 2pm and will once again feature access to a Fanzone and first team training session inside the stadium.

To ensure the safety of attendees in the Fanzone and at the club store, where the Club's 2016/17 away and third kits will go on sale, Strawberry Place will be closed to traffic from midnight until 4pm on Monday (1st August).

The Fanzone will include a number of football-related activities including a penalty kick area and speed cage, as well as an assault course, face painting area and small fairground rides.

The Fanzone will open at 9am, when access to East Stand seating will also open. Subject to attendance levels, supporters will subsequently be directed by stewards to additional seating areas once the East Stand is full.

The first action inside the stadium will commence at 9.45am, when participants from a range of Newcastle United Foundation coaching courses and the Newcastle United Academy showcase their skills on the pitch.

Fans will then get chance to see Rafa Benítez and his staff putting the Newcastle United first team through their paces, with a full training session beginning from approximately 10.30am until noon.

Similar to last summer's event, there will also be an opportunity for a few lucky supporters to join some of the players on the pitch for a special challenge from noon.

Following the action inside St. James' Park, the fun will continue in the Fanzone, which will remain fully open to all fans until 2pm.

The provisional schedule is as follows:

Midnight - Strawberry Place closes to traffic

9am - Fanzone and East Stand open

9.45am-10.15am - Foundation/Academy training session

10.30am (approximately)-noon - First team training session

Noon-12:30pm - Fan challenge

2pm - Fanzone closes

4pm - Strawberry Place reopens to traffic
