Euro 2016: Sissoko Suffers Final Defeat

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko suffered Euro 2016 heartbreak as his France side were beaten in Sunday's final by Portugal.

Eder's extra-time strike was enough to separate the sides at the Stade de France, and secure a first major tournament victory for Portugal, who lost captain Cristiano Ronaldo through injury early on.

Sissoko was deployed wide on the right for Les Bleus and put in another impressive performance - linking well with Bacary Sagna on that flank and also threatening to break the deadlock on a couple of occasions.

However, it was substitute Eder who managed it in the 109th minute, cutting in from the left before sending a low 20-yard drive past the outstretched arm of Hugo Lloris.

Sissoko was substituted immediately after, as France introduced Anthony Martial to go in search of an equaliser.

But they were unable to find a goal, and Sissoko and Les Bleus were left to settle for runners-up medals.
