Colback Full Of Praise For "Most Consistent" Performers

Jack Colback has heaped praise on Newcastle United's outstanding support - admitting the Magpies' "most consistent" performers during the 2015/16 campaign were those on the terraces.

It was a disappointing 2015/16 campaign for Colback & Co, with just nine Premier League victories recorded as they slipped out of the top flight.

But despite the struggles on the pitch, United fans regularly filled their away allocation, while home attendances didn't drop below 46,000 in the league.

In fact, St. James' Park was a sell-out for the final game of the season - even though relegation was already confirmed by that point - and Colback believes the supporters were a credit to the Club all year.

"The fans were unbelievable," he told nufc.co.uk.

"Fans like this don't deserve to be in the Championship and the way they supported us throughout the season was phenomenal.

"Too many times we let the fans down and didn't give performances on a regular basis but credit to them - they were probably the most consistent part of our season.

"To turn out like that on the final day against Tottenham and support a team that were already down the way they did is amazing.

"The way the season went, you wouldn't have blamed the fans for not showing up or if there was a negative atmosphere, but they were singing from the start.

"The atmosphere was very positive which was amazing, and the way they got behind the team and the manager in particular was fantastic. I'm sure it will continue into next season."
