Temuri Ketsbaia is the new coach of AEK Athens.

The former Newcastle midfielder, now 48, was unveiled as the new man in charge of the Greek giants on Monday.

He joined United as a player from AEK in 1997, spending three years at St. James' Park and achieving cult status.

In all, he made 109 appearances for the Magpies and scored 14 goals, including a last-minute winner against Bolton in 1998 which led to him removing his shirt and kicking the advertising hoardings in celebration.

His playing days ended at Anothosis in Cyprus, which is also where his managerial career started.

He went on to manage Olympiakos and the Georgian national team before returning to Cyprus with APOEL.

And after leading them to the brink of the title, he has now taken the hotseat at the Olympic Stadium, where he will be hoping to help AEK to improve upon last season's fourth-placed finish.
