Two former Newcastle United defenders have been released by their current clubs.
Middlesbrough have confirmed that Jonathan Woodgate, 36, will not be offered a new contract at the Riverside Stadium.
The ex-England international made 37 appearances for Newcastle before joining Real Madrid in 2004, and is regarded by many Magpies supporters as one of the Club's best centre-backs of the modern era.
However, his career has been hampered by injury and he was restricted to just one Capital One Cup appearance last season as Middlesbrough won promotion to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Sylvain Distin will leave AFC Bournemouth when his contract expires at the end of next month.
The Frenchman, now 38, was on loan at St. James' Park from Paris Saint-Germain in the 2001/02 campaign before opting to join Manchester City.
