Paul Dummett has joined up with the Wales national team for a pre-Euro 2016 training camp in Portugal.
The 24-year-old Magpies defender, who has two caps for his country, was part of the group which flew from Cardiff Airport on Tuesday morning. Gareth Bale didn't travel due to the small matter of Saturday's Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Earlier this month, Dummett was named in Chris Coleman's preliminary squad for the European Championships and now he's hoping to make the final 23-man party for the tournament. He ended an injury-affected 2015/16 campaign in excellent form as Rafa Benitez's side finished the season unbeaten in six games despite being relegated from the top flight.
Although he was born in Newcastle, Dummett's grandfather is Welsh and he has previously represented the Dragons at under-21 level.
After touching down in the Algarve, Dummett told nufc.co.uk: "I'm really looking forward to the next few days.
"I'm excited to be part of this training camp and I'm fully focused on trying to impress the manager and doing all I can to be part of the squad for the Euros."
The final squad will be announced after the training camp, ahead of a friendly against Sweden in Stockholm on 5th June.
