Dutch Duo Receive National Call

Vurnon Anita and Georginio Wijnaldum have been called up to the Dutch squad for three upcoming friendlies

Newcastle United duo Vurnon Anita and Georginio Wijnaldum have been called up to the Dutch squad for three upcoming friendlies.

Danny Blind's side face the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Friday, 27th May before travelling to the Energa Stadium in Gdansk to face Poland on Wednesday 1st June.

They are then set to play Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna on Saturday, June 4th.

If selected for any of those trio of games, it would be the first time Anita - impressive at full back for the Magpies recently - had received a cap for his country since 2010.

The 27-year-old currently has three caps for the Oranje, who failed to qualify for Euro 2016 this summer.

Midfielder Wijnaldum, meanwhile, is more of a regular at international level, and could earn his 30th cap if he features in all three friendlies. He was part of the team that helped Blind's side to victory over England at Wembley back in March.
