Pick Up A Retro Programme Against City

Written by Newcastle Utd

The 20th issue of United's award-winning matchday programme will be available to purchase on Tuesday

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

The Newcastle United matchday programme has gone retro for the 2015/16 campaign, and the 20th issue will be on sale for Tuesday's Barclays Premier League fixture against Manchester City (7.45pm kick-off).

Each week, a previous issue from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s will be given a modern twist, with this week's award-winning publication taking its inspiration from March 1972 and a Division One clash between United and the Citizens.

The original cover features an image of the famous black and white shirt set onto a bright pink background. And so on Tuesday, the cover is identical apart from the image, which is an updated version of this season's kit.

Inside, we speak to goalkeeper Karl Darlow about coming in to the team in the absence of Rob Elliot and Tim Krul, tweets of support and preparing to face Sergio Aguero and Co.

Centre-back Jamaal Lascelles spills the beans from inside the dressing room in Teammates, while we also hear from Rob Elliot, Jack Colback, Academy defender Jake Trodd, captain Fabricio Coloccini and manager Rafa Benitez

That is a just a snippet of what is inside this week's issue, with an extensive look at Tuesday's opponents Manchester City and four pages of quizzes and puzzles for our younger fans also included.

The official matchday programme will be available to purchase around St. James' Park and in the club store at the stadium on Tuesday, priced at just £3 for 100 pages.
