Chancel Mbemba was part of the Newcastle United defence which kept out Swansea City on Saturday as Rafa Benitez's side gave their survival hopes a timely shot in the arm.
And the former Anderlecht man wants a repeat performance from the Magpies' back-line when Manchester City arrive at St. James' Park on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini is expected to field 26-goal Sergio Agüero as well as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Stirling, but Mbemba believes that Saturday's 3-0 victory over the Swans has lifted the mood in the Magpies' dressing room.
Newcastle would climb out of the bottom three with a win against the high-flying Citizens and Mbemba told nufcTV: "There's always pressure in every game, but that's our job.
"We need to know how to deal with it and handle this pressure and fortunately we did that at the weekend. We did that for the fans and we need to continue to work to make sure we do that until the end.
"It's a very good thing not to have let any goals in, and that was one of the things we worked really hard on; to make sure in that game we didn't concede any goals, and that's something we need to continue to work on in the next games.
"We're going to make a lot of effort, do a lot of hard work, so we try not to concede.
"City is a game that we have in hand, a game where we need to try and go out and win. We'll do everything we can to do that and hopefully we'll go away with another victory."
Mbemba added: "For me, when I look around the dressing room I can see there's a lot of confidence, I can see there's a lot of quality and a lot of experience as well.
"So yes, we have the confidence, but we need to go out and do the job on the pitch. We need to make the fans happy; I think it's something that they deserve but it's also something the Club deserves.
"Here in England, Newcastle is a massive Club, a very big Club, and we need to go out and make sure we do it justice."
