Pick Up A Retro Programme On Saturday

Written by Newcastle Utd

The 19th issue of United's award-winning matchday programme will be available to purchase on Saturday

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

The Newcastle United matchday programme has gone retro for the 2015/16 campaign, and the 19th issue will be on sale for Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture against Swansea (3pm kick-off).

Each week, a previous issue from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s will be given a modern twist, with this weekend's award-winning publication taking its inspiration from March 1984 and a Division Two clash between United and the Swans.

The original cover features an action image of Chris Waddle set onto a white background with black text. And so on Saturday, the cover is identical apart from the image, which is of January signing Jonjo Shelvey.

Inside, we speak to the midfielder about pulling United out of the relegation zone, swapping South Wales for Tyneside, and wearing the captain's armband in recent weeks.

Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman spills the beans from inside the dressing room in Teammates, while we also hear from Academy stopper Ben Smith, captain Fabricio Coloccini and manager Rafa Benitez

That is a just a snippet of what is inside this week's issue, with an extensive look at Saturday's opponents Swansea and four pages of quizzes and puzzles for our younger fans also included.

The official matchday programme will be available to purchase around St. James' Park and in the club store at the stadium on Saturday, priced at just £3 for 100 pages.
