Robert Madley will take charge of Newcastle United's trip to Southampton in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It is the second time the West Yorkshire whistler has refereed a Magpies match this season, having been the man in the middle of last October's 3-0 Tyne-Wear derby defeat at Sunderland.
On that disappointing afternoon at the Stadium of Light, Madley sent off United skipper Fabricio Coloccini - which was later rescinded - and booked two players, Jack Colback and Cheick Tiote.
In total this season, Madley has overseen 29 fixtures across the Premier League, Championship FA Cup, Capital One Cup and UEFA Euro Under-19 Championship qualifiers, issuing 88 yellow cards, six reds and awarding 13 penalties.
Madley started refereeing in the Wakefield and District League in 2001 before progressing to the West Yorkshire Association Football League.
In 2010 he became a Football League official and in April 2013 took charge of his first Premier League fixture, between Southampton and West Bromwich Albion at St Mary's Stadium.
On Saturday at St. Mary's Stadium, Madley will be assisted by Marc Perry and John Brooks, with Gavin Ward the game's fourth official.
