United Celebrate LPF's Weeks Of Action

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle United are preparing to celebrate Level Playing Field's Weeks of Action campaign

As April approaches the Club are preparing to once again celebrate Level Playing Field's Weeks of Action.

Established in 2005, the scheme helps to highlight the positive initiatives undertaken by clubs, sporting venues and their governing bodies in partnership with disabled sports fans and disabled supporters associations.

This annual campaign - now in its 11th year - is regularly supported through a range of actions and initiatives. For the first time, this year's Level Playing Field Weeks of Action are aligned with the European celebration of access and inclusion for all football fans (Total Football, Total Access - an initiative independently delivered by the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE) and its partners).

In support of his year's campaign, the Club has planned numerous activities and news stories that will be released over the course of the fortnight. The first of which is planned to take place this coming Saturday at the first team's fixture away to Norwich City.

To kick off the Weeks of Action in style, the Newcastle United Foundation plan to take their Down Syndrome football team to play against their Norfolk-based counterparts in a game scheduled to be played at Norwich's Carrow Park Family Fanzone before Saturday's fixture. Both teams will then form a guard of honour for the two teams ahead of the big Barclays Premier League clash.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer our players such a fantastic opportunity," said Reggie Dornan, disability football development officer for the Foundation. "They are a great bunch who love their football and such a great experience is befitting of their efforts and commitment."

Keep up to date with all the Club's activities over the course of fortnight by visiting nufc.co.uk and the Foundation's website, nufoundation.org.uk, as well as through their various social media platforms, using the hashtag #united4access.

Please join us in supporting this great course and help us to continue to make our beloved game accessible to all.
