McClaren Seeking Home Comforts

Steve McClaren hopes to see his Newcastle United side grab their third consecutive home win on Saturday

Steve McClaren hopes to see his Newcastle United side grab their third consecutive home win in the Barclays Premier League when they face Bournemouth on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Magpies return to St. James' Park for the first time in almost a month and, having since suffered back-to-back away defeats, McClaren is pleased to be back on Tyneside this weekend.

"We're at home and we'll have 52,000 fans behind us," said the United boss.

"You have to say they have been there all season and it's up to us to match that and give them a performance.

"We've lost one in our last six at home - and that loss was in the last minute against Everton = so we have given the (St. James' Park) crowd something to cheer about and we need to do that again tomorrow.

"We know with the crowd behind us that if we put in a performance we stand a very good chance of winning.

"What we want to do is try to maintain what we've been doing at home in terms of our performance and our tempo. It gets the crowd excited and we've shown in some of our home games that the football and goals we've scored have been great.

"We aim to win tomorrow but it's about fine margins. Bournemouth will be difficult but we know what we have to do."
