Georginio Wijnaldum has heaped praise on Jonjo Shelvey, following the midfielder's "magnificent" debut

Georginio Wijnaldum has heaped praise on new signing Jonjo Shelvey, following the midfielder's "magnificent" debut against West Ham on Saturday.
Shelvey, an arrival from Barclays Premier League rivals Swansea City, caught the eye at St. James' Park with a hand in both Magpies' goals as they recorded a 2-1 victory - their first triumph of 2016.
Wijnaldum was one of Newcastle's goalscorers, netting his ninth goal of the campaign, and is delighted the England international schemer is now his teammate,.
"I was really impressed with Jonjo," Wijnaldum told nufc.co.uk.
"I already knew he was a good player and from the moment I heard it was possible for him to join us, I was very happy.
"He is a great player. He is not someone who kicks and runs - he is someone who plays possession football and sees everything.
"You could see that from the two goals. He was seeing great passes, balls in between the lines, and he was magnificent."
