Pick Up A Retro Programme On Saturday

Written by Newcastle Utd

The 15th issue of United's award-winning matchday programme will be available to purchase on Saturday

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

The Newcastle United matchday programme has gone retro for the 2015/16 campaign, and the 15th issue will be on sale for Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture against West Ham United (3pm kick-off).

Each week, a previous issue from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s will be given a modern twist, with this weekend's award-winning publication taking its inspiration from April 1973 and a First Division clash between United and the Hammers.

The original cover features the East Stand set on a black background, and so Saturday's 100-page issue is an exact replica, with the photo of the East Stand being from the Magpies' 3-3 thriller against Manchester United on Tuesday.

Inside, we speak to new signings Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet, as the midfielders settle into life on Tyneside.

Rolando Aarons spills the beans from inside the dressing room in Teammates, while we also hear from Aleksandar Mitrovic, young Magpies Alex Gilliead and Jack Hunter, captain Fabricio Coloccini and head coach Steve McClaren.

That is a just a snippet of what is inside this week's issue, with an extensive look at Saturday's opponents West Ham and four pages of quizzes and puzzles for our younger fans also included.

The official matchday programme will be available to purchase around St. James' Park and in the club store at the stadium on Saturday, priced at just £3 for 100 pages.
