Everything you need to know about Newcastle United's new signing Jonjo Shelvey
- Jonjo Shelvey was born in Harold Hill, East London, on 27th February, 1992.
- A West Ham fan as a boy, he played in the Hammers' Academy, as well as Arsenal's, before moving to Charlton Athletic in 2004.
- Shelvey rapidly rose through the ranks at the Valley, and after impressing for the Addicks' youth team, made his first team debut in April 2008 against Barnsley. In doing so, he became Charlton's youngest-ever player, at the age of 16 years and 59 days.
- In January 2009, the midfielder broke another record, this time becoming Charlton's youngest ever goalscorer, when he netted against Norwich in the FA Cup, 54 days shy of his 17th birthday.
- After impressing in both the Championship and League One for Charlton, unsurprisingly Shelvey's performances drew attention from elsewhere and he signed for Liverpool in May 2010.
- He was sent on loan to Blackpool during the first half of the 2011/12 campaign but, after six goals in ten games for the Seasiders, was recalled by Liverpool in November 2011.
- Shelvey went on to help Liverpool lift the 2012 League Cup, making 69 appearances for the Reds in all competitions, and scoring seven goals, before moving to Swansea in the summer of 2013.
- An instant hit in South Wales, Shelvey scored his first Swans goal - and claimed an assist - in a 2-2 draw with his former team, Liverpool. He made 77 appearances for Swansea in all competitions, scoring nine goals.
- Shelvey represented England at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 level, before being handed his first senior cap in October 2012 - stepping off the substitutes' bench for the final 34 minutes of a 5-0 home victory over San Marino.
- To date, the midfielder has four caps for the Three Lions and will be hoping to be part of the national squad which travels to France to compete in Euro 2016.
