Dean On Duty Against Red Devils

Written by Newcastle Utd

Mike Dean will take charge of Newcastle's Barclays Premier League fixture against Manchester United

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Mike Dean will take charge of Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League home fixture against Manchester United on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

It is the first time the Wirral-based official has overseen a Magpies' match this term, although he was the man in the middle of five last season.

In total during the 2015/16 campaign, he has refereed 19 games across the Barclays Premier League, Championship and FA Cup, issuing 67 yellow card and seven reds.

Dean, aged 47, began officiating in 1985 and progressed through the ranks to the full referees' list in 1997 and the Select Group of referees for the Premier League in 2000.

He has taken charge of the 2004 Community Shield, the 2008 FA Cup final and the 2011 League Cup final.

On Tuesday at St. James' Park, Dean will be assisted by Simon Bennett and Eddie Smart, with Robert Madley the game's fourth official.
