East In Charge At Vicarage Road

Roger East will referee Newcastle United's FA Cup third round tie at Watford on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

It is the fourth time this season the Wiltshire-based official has taken charge of a Magpies' match, having been the man in the middle of September's home defeat by Watford, a goalless draw on Tyneside against Stoke in October, and last month's victory at Tottenham Hotspur.

On that memorable afternoon at White Hart Lane, East booked four players including Jack Colback and matchwinner Ayoze Perez.

In total during the 2015/16 campaign, East has overseen 18 fixtures across the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and the Capital One Cup, issuing 56 yellow cards and one red.

The 50-year-old has been on the National List since 2006, and was an assistant referee at the 2004 FA Cup final and 2006 FA Community Shield before stepping into the middle for the 2006/07 campaign.

East was in charge of the 2012 League One play-off final between Huddersfield and Sheffield United and in the 2012/13 season, oversaw his first Premier League match - a 2-2 draw between Swansea City and Sunderland.

He earned a permanent spot in the Select Group of Premier League officials from the start of 2013/14 campaign.

On Saturday at Vicarage Road, East will be assisted by Simon Long and Marc Perry, with Graham Horwood the game's fourth official.
