McClaren: "A Tough Draw"

Written by Newcastle Utd

Steve McClaren has given nufc.co.uk his reaction to Newcastle's Emirates FA Cup third round tie against Watford

Steve McClaren has admitted that Newcastle have been handed a "tough draw" in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Magpies were given a trip to Watford when the draw was made at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff on Monday night.

Quique Sánchez Flores' side are currently tenth in the Barclays Premier League and have already beaten United once this season, a 2-1 victory at St. James' Park in September.

"Away from home against a Premier League team - it's a tough draw," head coach McClaren told nufc.co.uk.

"We're playing a good team who are strong at home and we'll have to be at our very best to win.

"But that's a long way off and there will be a lot of water under the bridge before then. Come the second weekend of January, we'll be ready."

The tie will be played at Vicarage Road on the weekend commencing Friday, 8th January - a fortnight before the two teams are due to clash in the Premier League in Hertfordshire - and a date for the fixture and ticket details will be announced on nufc.co.uk in due course.
