Andre Marriner will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League home fixture against Liverpool on Sunday (4pm kick-off).
It is the second time the West Midlands-based official has taken charge of a Magpies' match this season, having been the man in the middle of August's 1-0 home defeat against Arsenal.
On that afternoon on Tyneside, Marriner booked seven players - including Fabricio Coloccini, Chancel Mbemba, Georginio Wijnaldum, Moussa Sissoko, Vurnon Anita and Florian Thauvin - and sent off Aleksandar Mitrovic.
In total this term, the whistler has overseen 12 fixtures across the Premier League, Championship, Capital One Cup and Europa League, issuing 47 yellow cards and three reds.
The 44-year-old began refereeing in 1992 when he was asked to stand-in for an official who did not turn up at a local league match, and he progressed through the ranks to become a Football League referee 11 years later.
Marriner's first Premier League appointment came in November 2004 with a 4-0 victory for Charlton Athletic over Norwich City, and he took charge of the 2013 FA Cup final between Manchester City and Wigan at Wembley.
On Sunday at St. James' Park, Marriner will be assisted by Scott Ledger and Darren Cann , with Kevin Friend the game's fourth official.
