Newcastle United's under-21s take on their Stoke City counterparts on Saturday afternoon

Newcastle's second-string will look to extend their Barclays Under-21 Premier League unbeaten run to three games when they take on Stoke City on Saturday (kick-off 2pm).

The Magpies travel to Macclesfield Town's Moss Rose on the back of two successive clean sheets, against Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.

Peter Beardsley's boys are used to playing midweek matches, but will get the chance to experience a Saturday afternoon kick-off against the Potters.

"It's great," Beardsley told nufc.co.uk. "The game will be at Macclesfield, a former Football League ground, so that's fantastic.

"And as soon as that's over, we'll be on the bus hoping that the first team will beat Crystal Palace."

Siem de Jong, Yoan Gouffran and Jamaal Lascelles, who all turned out for United's under-21s against West Brom on Monday, will be part of Steve McClaren's senior squad at Selhurst Park.

Goalkeeper Karl Darlow and young defender Jamie Sterry could also be involved for the first team.

However Beardsley could hand another start to 16-year-old striker Lewis McNall, who has scored ten times for Dave Watson's under-18s so far this term.

Owen Gallacher - son of former Magpie John - could also be involved after making his debut as a substitute on Monday.
