United With France

Written by Newcastle Utd

On Saturday, Newcastle United will show solidarity with France following last week's attacks in Paris

Following the statement made by the Premier League this afternoon, Newcastle United can confirm arrangements are in place at St. James' Park to show solidarity with France following last Friday's attacks in Paris.

Prior to kick-off on Saturday, players and match officials will gather around the centre circle for the French national anthem, La Marseillaise. The wording of the anthem will be displayed on the stadium screen.

French Tricolore flags will also fly above the East Stand on the day of the game as a mark of respect to those who lost their lives and United's players will wear black armbands.

The Club is reassuring supporters that their safety remains of paramount importance.

Steve Storey, head of safety and security at Newcastle United, said: "The safety of supporters remains our utmost priority and we have fully reviewed our protocols in line with current guidance from the national security services and the Premier League.

"Following consultation with Northumbria Police, we would like to reassure supporters that appropriate safety and security measures are in place at St. James' Park.

"We ask that supporters come and enjoy Saturday's game as they usually would and to please speak to their nearest steward or police officer should they have any concerns."
