Sissoko Joins Show Of Solidarity

Newcastle United's Moussa Sissoko was part of a moving show of solidarity at Wembley on Tuesday night.

The Le Blanc-Mensil-born midfielder was in the France squad for Les Bleus' friendly with England, which went ahead despite last week's terror attacks in Paris.

And, on an emotional evening in London, both sets of supporters sang the French anthem, La Marseillaise, before the two sets of players joined each other for a poignant group photograph and a minute's silence.

Sissoko - who was joined in the France squad by former Magpies Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa - appeared as a late substitute as Didier Deschamps' side lost 2-0.

Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney scored the goals - but the result was secondary as football united behind the grieving French nation.

However while that match went ahead, Germany's friendly against Holland in Hannover was cancelled less than two hours before kick-off due to a reported terror threat.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Daryl Janmaat were in the Netherlands squad and both teams were evacuated to safety.
