International Round Up

Written by Newcastle Utd

A round up of international action from Friday evening as Holland won in Cardiff with three Newcastle players involved

Daryl Janmaat's Holland got the better of Paul Dummett's Wales in an entertaining encounter in Cardiff on Friday evening.

The visitors won 3-2 with Janmaat, representing his country for the 27th time, playing the full 90 minutes and Dummett, making only his second appearance for his country, coming on as a 65th-minute substitute for Neil Taylor.

Georginio Wijnaldum replaced Quincy Promes in the 90th minute for the Dutch to win his 24th cap.

Bas Dost put the Netherlands in front from a Janmaat cross before Joe Ledley equalised just before half time. But two second half goals from Arjen Robben, either side of an Emyr Huws header, gave Holland the win.

Meanwhile in Paris, Moussa Sissoko was an unused substitute as the Euro 2016 hosts beat world champions Germany 2-0 at the Stade de France. However, the match paled into insignificance with the tragic events in Paris unfolding as the match was being played.

In Ostrava, Aleksandar Mitrovic played the first 69 minutes for Serbia as the Czech Republic won 4-1.

Shane Ferguson, on loan at Millwall, came on as a 69th minute substitute to win his 21st cap as Northern Ireland beat Latvia 1-0 in Belfast.

At youth level, Kyle Cameron appeared as a 62nd-minute substitute as Scotland under-19s beat Latvia 2-0 in Athlone.

On Thursday Adam Armstrong captained England under-19s as they drew 2-2 with Holland in Gravenzande. Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman was an unused substitute.
