Cheick Tiote praised Newcastle United's "spirit and fight" as they recorded a first away win of the season at Bournemouth on Saturday.
Ayoze Perez's first-half effort proved to be the difference at the Vitality Stadium, although the Magpies were fortunate to come away with all three points having been under pressure for long spells of the Barclays Premier League clash.
Rather than an eye-catching display of flair and attacking prowess from United, it was more a case of grit and determination at the other end. But Tiote was only concerned by the end result.
"It was a really good win for everyone - the players, the fans and the head coach. It was a massive win," the Ivorian international midfielder told nufc.co.uk.
"It wasn't the best performance. We have had some games where we have played really well but didn't win, so today the most important thing was the three points.
"Sometimes it doesn't matter how you play, as long as you get the result. The Premier League is very tough and you have to get wins however you can.
"Getting a first away win is big for our confidence. We showed spirit and fight, and worked hard for each other. It wasn't easy for us but we did everything we could to keep a clean sheet, especially Robbie, who made some great saves and was magnificent.
"We are out of the relegation zone now and that is very important. We have the opportunity to climb up the league now and that is what we will try to do.
Saturday was Tiote's fourth successive start and the 29-year-old is pleased to be involved again after having to remain patient during the early part of the season.
"It's not easy to sit on the bench and watch the team play, so I am happy to be back in there doing my job," he continued.
"I don't enjoy watching games - every player feels the same - but when I am given the opportunity I have to do my best for the team, and hopefully I can continue to do that."
