Strong Squad For Villa Under-21s Clash

Written by Newcastle Utd

Peter Beardsley will have several first-team fringe players at his disposal for Monday night's Barclays Under-21 Premier League game at St. James' Park

Five players with Barclays Premier League experience are included in the Newcastle United under-21s squad to face Aston Villa at St. James' Park on Monday (kick-off 7pm).

Holland international Siem de Jong is named as an over-age player, having asked to play in order to maintain his match sharpness, while Massadio Haidara will also be involved along with Jamaal Lascelles, who almost scored a late winner against Stoke on Saturday.

Kevin Mbabu, who impressed against Chelsea and Manchester City before suffering a hamstring injury, and Ivan Toney have also played in the top flight and are set to feature for Peter Beardsley's second-string against the Villans. Toney will be looking to score for the fifth Barclays Under-21 Premier League match in a row.

Teenage goalkeeper Freddie Woodman may also get a run-out. With Tim Krul and Karl Darlow both injured and Rob Elliot a doubt for the weekend's game at Bournemouth, Woodman is currently the Club's only available professional keeper.

Defender Lubo Satka is available after missing the 6-4 defeat at Derby last week through injury.

Admission on Monday evening is free for season ticket holders and Members, otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
