Moussa The Goal-Maker

On Sunday, Moussa Sissoko became the first United player in more than 21 years to register three assists in a top flight fixture

On Sunday at St. James' Park, Moussa Sissoko became the first Newcastle United player in more than 21 years to register three assists in a Premier League fixture.

The previous record was held by Andy Cole, against West Ham in March 1994, but Sissoko rewrote the record books by laying on two goals for Georginio Wijnaldum and one for Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The French midfielder also had a hand in two others as United thumped Norwich City 6-2 to record their first league win of the season in emphatic style.

And while Sissoko was delighted to have played his part in the triumph, the Magpies' midfield powerhouse humbly insists he was just doing his job.

"I'm happy with it," he said of his own performance.

"The most important thing is that the team gets the three points but if I can help with that, by scoring or making assists, then I am happy.

"I had the chance to give a lot of assists (against Norwich) so I am pleased. But it was just my job - I was doing my job for the team.

"We are all happy with the result because the start of the season was hard for everyone.

"We had some good performances but the results were not good. But against Norwich, everyone was ready, focussed and we got the three points.

"We showed some good things right from the beginning until the end, and we needed to take the three points."

Sissoko reserved special praise for summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum, who netted four in the rout of the Canaries to take his tally for the season to six.

"I'm happy for Gini," he continued.

"He works so hard in training and is a fantastic player for us.

"I hope he can continue in this and keep scoring goals for us because he is a big player."
