Alex Gilliead helped England Under-20s make a winning start to the Mercedes Elite Cup, as they beat Holland 3-1 on Wednesday.
The Newcastle United winger, who has just completed a successful loan spell at Carlisle United, was handed a starting spot by Young Lions boss Keith Downing for the fixture at the Heidenheim Arena, in Germany.
And wearing the number seven shirt, Gilliead played a key role in the victory, which was secured thanks to goals from Reece Brown, Brandon Barker and Sam Gallagher.
Gilliead was replaced after 72 minutes by Tottenham Hotspur's Nathan Oduwa, and the Magpies youngster will be hoping for more game time as England face Turkey and Germany over the next five days.
