Daryl's Dutch Withdrawal Precautionary

Written by Newcastle Utd

United defender Daryl Janmaat has withdrawn from the Holland squad as a precautionary measure

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Daryl Janmaat has withdrawn from the Holland squad as a precautionary measure.

The right-back was one of four Newcastle United players named in the Netherlands' 23-man party for European Championship qualifiers against Kazakhstan (Saturday, 10th October) and Czech Republic (Tuesday, 13th October).

After suffering stiffness in his knee, Janmaat will miss both fixtures and will return to Tyneside to be assessed by the Club's medical staff, with the Magpies hopeful he will be available to face Norwich City on Sunday, 18th October.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul and midfielders Vurnon Anita and Georginio Wijnaldum are the other United players in the squad, as Holland attempt to secure a play-off place ahead of next summer's finals.
