Colback Doubtful For City Trip

Jack Colback is a doubt for Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League trip to Manchester City on Saturday

Jack Colback is a doubt for Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League trip to Manchester City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Killingworth-born midfielder was replaced early in the second half of last weekend's draw with champions Chelsea with a hamstring complaint and, speaking to the media ahead of this weekend's fixture, head coach Steve McClaren revealed he will make a late call on the 25-year-old's fitness.

However, left-back Massadio Haidara (knee) and wingers Gabriel Obertan (hamstring) and Rolando Aarons (calf) are all definitely out of the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

"Obertan and Aarons have fallen out (of the squad) this week," said McClaren.

"Massadio has no chance from the last game. The only who could hopefully come back is Jack Colback.

"But he is still struggling with a little hamstring strain and we are just deciding whether to risk that. We are assessing it.

"So there are one or two (injuries) but generally the squad is fit."
