Aleksandar Mitrovic netted his second international goal for Serbia but they fell to a 2-1 friendly defeat against France on Monday night.

The striker, who arrived from Anderlecht during the summer, started for his nation in Bordeaux - winning his 15th cap.

Serbia were two down when Mitrovic struck with half-time approaching, as he diverted Lazar Markovic's volley past France keeper Hugo Lloris and into the bottom corner.

However, they were unable to conjure up an equaliser and Mitrovic was withdrawn after 76 minutes of the fixture, replaced by Lokomotiv Moscow front man Petar Skuletic.

For Les Bleus, Mitrovic's club teammate Moussa Sissoko was a stoppage-time substitute, coming on for Antoine Griezmann and collecting his 31st senior French cap.

Elsewhere, Shane Ferguson helped Northern Ireland remain top of Group F of the Euro 2016 qualifiers following a 1-1 draw at home to Hungary.

The left-sided player, who is on loan at Millwall until January, stepped off the substitutes' bench with six minutes remaining at Windsor Park, in Belfast.

Hungary were one up at the time but Norwich front man Kyle Lafferty pounced at a corner with seconds remaining to secure a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, England Under-20s suffered a 1-0 home defeat to the Czech Republic at Shrewsbury Town's Greenhous Meadow, with Alex Gilliead featuring during the second half.

The young wide-man came off the bench after 65 minutes but was unable to claw the Young Lions back into the contest, which was decided by an 11th-minute goal.

England Under-19s fared slightly better, recording a 1-1 draw with Croatia in Zagreb,

Adam Armstrong was handed a starting spot up front and took on the captain's armband for the second half of the fixture, while Magpies teammate Freddie Woodman was an unused substitute.
