The date for Newcastle's Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday has been set

Newcastle United's Capital One Cup third round fixture at home to Sheffield Wednesday has been confirmed as a 7.45pm kick-off on Wednesday, 23rd September.
The Magpies beat Northampton Town 4-1 in the second round at St. James' Park on Tuesday evening to set up a home draw against the Owls, who defeated Oxford United 1-0 to reach this stage.
Wednesday last visited St. James' Park in August 2009, losing 1-0 to a Shola Ameobi goal as the Magpies went on to win the Championship title.
Last summer, Ayoze Perez scored the only goal when the sides met in a pre-season friendly at Hillsborough.
