Ivan Toney has spoken of his "delight" at seeing Newcastle United drawn against his former side, Northampton Town, in the second round of the Capital One Cup.
The 19-year-old striker swapped the Sixfields Stadium for St. James' Park only last week, and has already turned out for the Magpies' under-21 side in their season opener at Wolves.
On Thursday night the draw for the next stage of the Capital One Cup was made, giving United home advantage against Toney's former employers, and the front man admits he would love to be involved.
"What were the chances of that?" Toney told nufc.co.uk.
"I was watching the draw and as it started, I said to my friend 'I bet we draw Northampton'. For some weird reason I just thought it might happen.
"When we got pulled out, my phone just went crazy with messages and Twitter.
"It's a great draw for myself, up against the football club that I started at, so I'm delighted with it.
"I'd love to get a run-out and show what I can do but it's the manager's decision who he selects."
While on paper the fixture may pit a top flight side against League Two opposition, it is never quite that straightforward - especially against a Cobblers side which knocked Liverpool out of the same competition at Anfield in 2010.
"It won't be easy," continued Toney.
"Sometimes playing against a League Two in the cup can be a harder game.
"It will be a really tough test but one that we will be ready for."
