Mike Jones will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League fixture at Swansea City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Cheshire-based official took charge of three Magpies' matches last season - a 3-3 home draw with Crystal Palace, a 3-1 Boxing Day defeat at Manchester United and a 2-1 reverse at home against Arsenal.

In total during the 2014/15 campaign, he officiated 34 games across the Premier League, Championship, FA Cup and Capital One Cup, issuing 117 yellow cards and ten reds.

Jones was also the only official to award United a penalty in the top flight last term - at Old Trafford.

The 47-year-old was promoted to the Football League list of referees in 1997 and went on to take charge of the League Two play-off final and FA Trophy in 2007, before moving into the Select Group which officiates in the top flight.

In May 2012, he was the fourth official for referee Phil Dowd at the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool.

On Saturday at the Liberty Stadium, Jones will be assisted by Simon Beck and Mark Scholes, with Oliver Langford the game's fourth official.
