Craig Pawson will referee Newcastle United's 2015/16 Barclays Premier League opener against Southampton on Sunday (1.30pm kick-off).
The South Yorkshire-based official took charge of three Magpies' matches last season - victories at West Bromwich Albion and at home against Everton, and a defeat at Stoke City.
In total last term, the 36-year-old oversaw 29 matches across the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and the FA Cup, issuing 100 yellow cards and ten reds.
Pawson has been a referee since 1993 and progressed through the ranks to become a regular in the Football League, before being promoted to top flight officiating in 2013.
He was in charge of the 2012 League Two play-off final between Crewe and Cheltenham, and also fourth official for the 2014 FA Cup semi-final, as well as last season's FA Cup final and Capital One Cup final.
On Sunday at St. James' Park, Pawson will be assisted by Dave Bryan and Scott Ledger, with Andre Marriner the game's fourth official.
Tickets for Sunday's Barclays Premier League opener against Southampton are still on sale, starting from just £5 for juniors. To secure your seat at St. James' Park, click here.
