Supporters Welcome Boss Interaction

Steve McClaren's meeting with supporters has been welcomed by a member of the Fans Forum

Steve McClaren's appearance at a meeting with Newcastle United supporters this week has been welcomed by a member of the Club's Fans Forum.

Paul Loughlin, who has represented St. James' Park's East Stand on the Forum since last summer, was one of 11 fans to meet with the head coach and Club officials to discuss a range of on and off-field topics.

"I was pleasantly surprised that Steve was here," Paul told nufc.co.uk.

"It was a great statement of intent from the Club to bring him to the meeting itself.

"The Club has talked about not dwelling too much on last season and looking forward and Steve set the tone, ethos and culture of where the Club wants to go.

"He obviously has an idea of what he wants from the players and a plan in place. It will be interesting to see what he does from here."

McClaren's attendance at the Fans Forum comes shortly after an open email to supporters which confirmed his coaching team, forming part of a new communications strategy at the Club.

"Bringing Steve to the meeting is refreshing and hasn't been done before. There has been a step change in how the club wants to communicate," Paul added.

"It was great to get the answers from the horse's mouth in that level of detail."
